(CARLISLE, Pa.) – Dickinson College has announced the hiring of Jay Brennan (Southern New Hampshire University) as the new head coach of the Red Devil men's and women's tennis programs.

Brennan comes to Carlisle from Chestnut Hill College, serving as the assistant for both the men's and women's programs for the past year. Prior to joining the staff at Chestnut Hill, he was head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs at the University of the Sciences from 2012-2018.

Brennan is looking forward to joining the Red Devil staff, saying "I am grateful to Joel Quattrone for the opportunity to lead Dickinson tennis and thrilled to be joining the community of this esteemed college. Coaching and tennis are two of my greatest passions and I hope that, along with my experience, will contribute towards success for these programs. I am eager to get on the court with this impressive roster of student-athletes and am driven to inspire them to be the best they can be both on and off the court."

After beginning his career as a tennis and basketball coach at the middle school and high school levels, Brennan took over the women's tennis program at the U. of the Sciences in 2012. He also served as the assistant to the men's program before assuming the role of head coach for both teams prior to the 2014-2015 season.

During his tenure, he mentored 12 student-athletes to All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference recognition, including the 2013 CACC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Year and 2016 and 2017 CACC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, Karla Miletic. Miletic also earned recognition as the CACC Rookie of the Year in 2016, breaking the program's single-season win mark with a 21-2 record.

The women's team rewrote the program record books, reached double-digit wins in both the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons, and appeared in three consecutive CACC semifinals from 2016 to 2019. The men's program consistently improved, ultimately making back-to-back appearances in the CACC Tournament in 2016 and 2017.

Brennan picked up the game of tennis at a young age and began playing competitively when he was 13. He played in United States Tennis Association (USTA) district and sectional tournaments as a teenager and men's open tournaments as an adult. He has served as the Philadelphia Suburban Junior Interclub League Director since 2014 and was an instructor at the Wilson/Penn Tennis Camps at the University of Pennsylvania during the summer of 2018. Coach Brennan has held previous positions with the Rose Valley Swim and Tennis Club, Ridley High School and the Woodlynde School. He is currently a member of the pro staff at the Upper Main Line Young Men's Christian Association (UMLYMCA), a position he has held since December of 2018.

He received an associate's degree in journalism/communications from Delaware County Community College and a bachelor's degree in communications from Southern New Hampshire University. He is certified through the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA), and still enjoys competing in adult tennis tournaments and leagues.

Director of Athletics Joel Quattrone is excited to welcome coach Brennan to the Dickinson coaching staff, stating, "We are very happy to have Jay Brennan join the Red Devil athletics family. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a collegiate tennis coach, and we look forward to working with Jay as he directs our programs."
