Haverford Tailgating Policy

  • Tailgating activities CANNOT obstruct the flow of traffic or interfere with the overall operation of the College
  • Any tents used for tailgating must not exceed 10’x20’ in size and must be weighted in some way so that they do not blow away and become dangerous projectiles
  • All waste & food items must be placed in the nearest trash receptacle at the conclusion of the tailgate. It is advised that tailgates bring additional trash bags. 
  • Grilling – propane, charcoal or open fires are prohibited. Grills are strictly limited to those supplied and supervised by the Dining Center.  Please contact a Dining Center Manager at 610-896-1108 to make arrangements.
  • All tailgates that involve the consumption of alcoholic beverages are to be restricted soley to the South Parking Lot. Please see the Campus Map for the location of the South Lot
  • Beverages, including alcohol, are limited to those contained in plastic or aluminum cans.  Glass bottles, kegs, beer balls or other common source containers are not permitted. Distilled beverages/liquor are not permitted.  
  • No alcohol may be provided to anyone under the age of 21 – this is the responsibility of the individual(s) or group(s) sponsoring the tailgate and not the College, but the College requires strict compliance with this state law. 
  • All alcohol is to be consumed in the designated area.  Alcohol is prohibited at all athletic venues. Public consumption of alcoholic beverages on any other part of campus is prohibited and subject to College/local law enforcement.
  • The College, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or end a tailgating event without notice should circumstances warrant.
  • Any violation of tailgating regulations may result in immediate termination of tailgating privileges and could result in criminal prosecution and/or disciplinary action by the Office of Safety and Security, the Office of the Dean of the College or local law enforcement agencies.

*Note: If anyone wishes to inquire about an indoor space for a postgame tailgate, please contact Melynda Link, Athletic Facilities Manager and Director of Game Day Operations, at mlink@haverford.edu or 610-896-1125. In the event of inclement weather, if an indoor space has not already been reserved, there will not be one made available.  Reservations for spaces must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.  All College regulations must be adhered to for the specified indoor space.
