CENTER VALLEY, Pa.--Swarthmore College Baseball went to extra innings at DeSales University on Wednesday and suffered a 2-1 loss.
The 10-inning non-Centennial Conference game was Swarthmore's third loss in its last 17 games.
Usual first basemen
Cole Beeker made his second start of the season for the Garnet and pitched five shutout innings. He's allowed just one run in 10 innings this year.
Swarthmore scored its only run in the top of the fifth on a single by freshman
Sam Jacobson that scored sophomore
Jared Gillen.
DeSales scored one run in the sixth and walked it off with a sacrifice fly out in the 10th.
The Garnet return to conference play with a game at Ursinus College on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
