SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse wrapped up the 2018 season with a 10-6 record following a 12-5 loss to regionally-ranked Haverford College on Saturday.
The Garnet struck first with senior Taylor Chiang finishing off a pass from Tess Wild which put Swarthmore up 1-0 at 28:56.
Haverford rattled off a run of four goals following Swarthmore's opener. After the Garnet interrupted the Fords' streak with Sydnie Schwarz's first of the day, the Fords fired off another string of four goals.
Down 8-2 with less than 25 minutes to play, the Garnet got another unassisted goal from Schwarz.
Freshman Julia Ostrowski scored off a free-position shot with 18:31 following a convincing fake. Ten minutes later Mackenzie Frost tallied her 20th goal of the season to cut Haverford's lead in half.
Haverford scored twice in the final two minutes to lock up the game 12-5 and move into the playoffs as the fourth seed.
Swarthmore recognized the four members of its senior class prior to Saturday's game: Bella Levine, Christina Labors, Taylor Chiang and Emily Sokol. Swarthmore is scheduled to return 23 players to the roster next season.
