HAVERFORD, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country claimed fourth place at the 2018 Centennial Conference Championship at Haverford College on Saturday. The Garnet recorded 100 points in the 6K race, tying with Haverford, but the tiebreaker and third place went to the Fords.
Swarthmore's
Xiaojing Zeng earned All-Centennial honors by finishing 12th overall and scoring 10th with a time of 22:30.9. Pheobe Whiteside and
Kenzie Himelein-Wachowiak both scored sub-20 for Swarthmore. Whiteside ran the 6K in 23:12.6 for 16 points, and Himelein-Wachowiak ran in 21:13 for 17 points.
Sophomore
Emma Novak stepped up and scored Swarthmore's fourth total (27 points) with a time of 23:56.3.
Nora Blodgett registered a time of 24:09.8 for 30 points for the Garnet on their fifth score.
Freshman
Rose Teszler completed the race in 24:22.9 and classmate Madeline Farber had Swarthmore's seventh-best time of 24:35.3.
Swarthmore's five remaining times were as follows: Hannah Gutow (24:43.8),
Sarah Smith (25:02.7),
Pauline McMurry (25:40.7),
Maya Zimmerman (26:09.9), and
Hannah Sobel (26:10.3).
The Garnet now get ready to compete in the NCAA Regionals in Center Valley, Pa. on Nov. 10.
