MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Seniors
Mikaela Collins (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) and
Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) each turned in a top-three finish as the Gettysburg College women's track and field team placed ninth out of 19 schools at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday.
The reigning Centennial Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Collins placed second in a field of 47 in the shot put, and she also took fourth out of 44 competitors in the discus. With a toss of 39-3, she was the top Division III finisher in the shot, and her throw of 121-6 in the disc was a personal record (PR) that ranks her fifth in school history.
Meredith came in third among 27 competitors in the long jump. With a leap of 17-4 3/4, she was also the top Division III finisher in the event.
Sophomore
Hailey Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) came in fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.50), and she was also ninth in a field of 41 in the 400-meter dash (1:03.48). Placing sixth were senior
Ellery Lyon (Sheldonville, Mass./King Philip) in the javelin (107-8) and sophomore
Catherine Dobensky (Shelton, Conn./Lauralton Hall) in the 5,000-meter run (19:58.71). Freshman
Sam Miller (Newtown Square, Pa./Penncrest) contributed an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (17.79).
The Bullets continue their season when they compete at the Messiah Invitational and Multi Thursday through next Saturday.
