NEW YORK - The Dickinson women's indoor track and field team began a busy two-day weekend by competing at the New York University Invitational at the NYC Armory on Friday night.
Sprints
Erin Olsavsky gave it a good effort in the 60m posting a time of 8.253 for a new personal record. However, her time was good for tenth which was not quite fast enough for a spot in the final.
Abbe Kitchin and
Maddie Kyle ran neck-and-neck clocking in at 8.37 and 8.38 respectively.
Mariana Penuela also hit the line in 8.55 for 25th.
Darya Mikusova finished the 60m hurdles in 9.52 for third, while
Naomi Alperin landed at 10.23 for 14th.
Two Devils earned Top-10 results during the 200m with
Sara Penuela hitting the line in 26.33 for third with
Emerlee Simons landing just outside the Top-5 in sixth (26.78). Mikusova rounded out the Top-20 with a 27.66.
A trio of DC athletes competed in the 400m with Kitchin finishing in 1:03.05 (14th), followed by
Maddie Brown (16th - 1:03.35) and Olsavsky (20th - 1:03.84).
Distance
Amiyah Priebe secured a ninth-place result for the 800m by hitting the line at 2:24.38, while
Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle posted a 2:33.98 (26th).
In the 3000m
Myra Naqvi clocked in at 10:37.99 for fifth as teammate
Maddie Garber hit the stripe in 10:54.42 to grab 13th.
During the mile run Priebe fell just off the Top-10 pace in 11th with a 5:20.63 as Kratovil-Lavelle grabbed 17th at 5:28.56.
Relays
The unit of Kitchin, Mikusova, S. Penuela and Simons came in second during the 4x400m race after posting a time of 4:06.88.
Field
M. Penuela competed in the long jump posting a mark of 4.88m for fifth, while
Maddie Gidman hit the sand in 4.40m.
Gidman then took park in the triple jump with a leap of 9.16m good for ninth.
Jenna Deep launched the shot put 9.09m to secure 12th in the event. She also took part in the weight throw recording a mark of 13.43m.
Abby Everett landed her throw at 12.72m for seventh.
Next on the Track
Dickinson gets right back to work tomorrow morning at 8:45am when they compete in the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College.
