GETTYSBURG, Pa. –
The Gettysburg College men's swimming team won four of the final events, including a come-from-behind victory in the 400 free relay to polish off a 141-121 decision over Ursinus College in a Centennial Conference dual meet at the Bullets Pool Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (5-0, 3-0 CC) remained unbeaten on the season, but the Bullets had to fight for every inch in the team scoring against Ursinus (3-2, 2-2 CC), which managed to jump in front by a few points in the team standings following a 1-3-4 finish in the 200 back.

The Bullets rallied with wins by junior Adam Dias (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter School) in the 200 breaststroke, sophomore Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) in the 500 free, and freshman Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) in the 200 IM.

Freshman Sam Nonemaker (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) swam a blistering 46.70 over the final 100 yards of the 400 free relay to close the meet with a victory. Sophomore Danny Petrillo (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), senior Francisco Nieves (Alexandria, Va./Edison), and sophomore Jack Edelson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Senior) swam the first three legs of the relay, which finished just 0.24 seconds ahead of Ursinus with a time of 3:11.29.

Proxmire and Pickering each doubled up in the win column on the afternoon. Proxmire posted Gettysburg's first victory of the day with a dominating effort in the 1,000 free, out-distancing the entire field by more than two lengths and finishing with a time of 9:49.88 – nearly 31 seconds ahead of runner-up finisher Josh Parker (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills). For an encore, the sophomore pulled off the long-distance sweep for the second time this campaign with an eight-second victory in the 500 free (4:43.35).

Pickering kept his streak intact by winning two races for the fourth consecutive event. He moved into ninth on the program's top-10 list with a time of 1:57.88 in the 200 fly. The first-year put up the second-fastest time in the conference this year in the 200 IM, claiming the top spot with a time of 1:58.83.

Nonemaker beat out a pair of fellow first-years from Ursinus to take home first place in the 50 free with a time of 21.41. He also placed third in the 100 free (48.21).

Dias finished ahead of teammate Oliver Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) by 1.63 seconds with a time of 2:16.31 in the 200 breaststroke. Yancey touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.87) with Dias finishing third (1:01.81).

Freshman CJ Hewitt (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) managed a pair of runner-up performances. Hewitt took second in the 200 fly, out-touching James Callaghan by 0.11 seconds with a time of 2:00.23. The first-year also claimed the No. 2 spot in the 500 free, surging past two-time CC runner-up Jake Menzer over the final 200 yards and finishing in 4:51.74. Hewitt also beat out Callaghan for third in the 200 IM (2:01.12).

Petrillo, Edelson, and Nieves all recoded runner-up performances. Petrillo took second in the 200 free (1:45.97), Edelson was second in the 100 fly (52.58), and Nieves was second in the 100 free (48.08). Nieves and Edelson finished third in the 100 fly (54.16) and 200 free (1:46.72), respectively. Sophomore Jack Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) placed second in both the 100 (56.10) and 200 (2:04.09) backstroke races.

Gettysburg returns to action on Nov. 30-Dec. 1 with its own invitational. Opening events on Friday begin at 6 p.m. with Saturday's morning session starting at 10 a.m. The finals of the two-day event will begin at 5 p.m.
