Women's Lacrosse Rallies Late

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team staged a dramatic comeback effort late in the second half against Swarthmore but fell one goal short in a 13-12 loss.

Trailing 13-7 with 10 minutes remaining, the Mules (6-6, 2-4 CC) would score the next five goals, starting with junior Amanda Tullo's fourth goal of the game with 9:46 left.

Senior Jordy Bonvini netted the next goal, her 150th of her career, to make it 13-9, and sophomore Emma Charron followed with a quick shot and goal off a Tullo pass to cut the deficit to three with four minutes remaining.

One minute later, sophomore Victoria Friedel brought the Mules within two on a goal assisted by senior Eliza Clark. The Garnet (10-3, 3-3 CC) won the next draw and burned time off the clock before committing a shot clock violation.

Muhlenberg successfully cleared the ball, with Tullo streaking toward the net and firing a shot past the goalie for her fifth goal, bringing the Mules within one score with 1:05 remaining.

Bonvini won the ensuing draw to provide the Mules with a chance to tie, but two shots in the final 15 seconds could not find the net.

Tullo led the Mules with eight points to tie her career high. Charron assisted a goal by sophomore Courtney Allen to go with her hat trick for four points.

Bonvini finished with two goals, leaving her one point shy of another milestone – 200 career points. She also won 11 draw controls to move into second in Centennial Conference history with 311, trailing only the Mules' all-time leader Stephanie Umbach (346).

Sophomore Jordan Segrave made 13 saves, one shy of the career high she set Saturday against McDaniel. She has made double-digit saves in three straight contests.

Junior Morgan Weiss and sophomore Gabriella Crivelli each garnered four ground balls and two caused turnovers to lead the Mules.
