Immaculata tops Bullets 11-4

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Gettysburg College baseball team closed its spring trip to Florida with an 11-4 loss to Immaculata University Saturday afternoon. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to weather.

The two teams combined for seven runs in the opening inning. Immaculata (8-3) picked up three hits, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch on the way to tallying the game's first four runs. Gettysburg (6-3) answered in the bottom of the frame with three runs, all of which came with two outs on the board. Freshman Shane Manieri (Harleysville, Pa./La Salle College) hit a two-out double and the Bullets loaded the bases with back-to-back walks. Sophomore Collin Short (Chesterfield, Va./Benedictine College Prep) drew a walk to bring home the first run and freshman Matthew Muir (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) plated two more with a single.

The Might Macs padded their advantage with two runs in the second inning before adding five more in the fourth and fifth frames.

Short brought home Gettysburg's final run with a one-out single in the fifth inning.

Muir finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, while sophomore Harry Quimby (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) tallied two hits, a walk, and two runs.
