How it Happened
• JHU got out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Robby Faris crossed the plate on a passed ball. St. Lawrence took the lead in the bottom of the second on a Brian Comerford single to the infield which plated two Saints.
• Sean McCracken settled down after the second inning as he retired the 11 St. Lawrence batters before allowing a single in the seventh which was quickly erased by a double play.
• The Blue Jays offense came alive as they plated two runs in the fourth on RBIs from Bradley Parsons and Frank Clara to take a 3-2 lead. Hopkins added another run in the fifth on a Mike Eberle double to left that scored Faris to make it a 4-2 JHU lead.
• Matthew Ritchie and Parsons led off the sixth with back-to-back singles as both then stole home in the inning to give the Blue Jays a four-run advantage and three more runs in the seventh on RBIs from Adam Kohl, Clara and James Ingram gave Hopkins a 9-2 lead.
• A seven-run eighth put the game out of reach as JHU sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning. Bradley Martin led off the inning and scored on a balk and Jack Walters knocked in two more runs with a pinch-hit single to right to score Nate Davis and Eberle. Clara then hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 13-2 and Chris DeGiacomo, who doubled earlier in the inning came around to score the 14th Blue Jay run of the game on an error. Austin Sacks punctuated the inning with a pinch-hit three-run homer to right to make the score 16-2.
• St. Lawrence put two runners on with two outs in the eighth, but David Glass entered the game and stuck out Drew Courtwright to end the inning. Glass then got one out in the ninth before walking a batter but he followed with a flyout and another strikeout to end the game and give Hopkins the 16-2 win.
