Track Teams Excel at Armory

Two weeks before the Centennial Conference Championships, the Muhlenberg track and field teams had their best meet of the season at the NYU Invitational.

Competing at the historic Armory in New York City, the Mules combined for nine ECAC qualifiers. The ECAC Championships are scheduled to be run on the same track on the first weekend of March.

Muhlenberg's first competitor at the meet, senior Jamie Pacilio, set the tone by breaking the school record in the 5,000 meters. Her time of 18:04.92 shattered the previous mark of 18:13.74.

Senior Emily Davidson finished third in the 800 in 2:20.58, knocking more than four seconds off her personal best and leaping from 10th to fourth on the Mules' all-time performance list.

Two milers on the women's team also had huge PRs - sophomore Santina Zouras by 4½ seconds (5:16.51) to move from ninth to sixth on the performance list and senior Mallory Snyder (pictured above left) by more than seven seconds (5:19.21) to enter the performance list in 10th place.

For the men, senior Michael Havkins added nearly a foot to his personal best in the shot put, finishing second in 47-7¾ and moving up from fifth to fourth on the performance list. Junior Corey Mullins cut his personal best in the mile from 4:22.59 to 4:17.80, jumping two spots to fifth on the performance list.

Seniors Anthony Calantoni (pictured above right) and Anthony Ware came in second and third, respectively, in the 60 and 800 with season-best times.

Entering the performance list for the first time were sophomores Christopher Dasaro (ninth in the 200) and Jason Richwall (ninth in the mile) and freshman Jeff Alvarez (10th in the 400). Richwall's time of 4:23.99 was an ECAC qualifier.
