NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming competed against some of the nation's best on Saturday, squaring off with Stevens Institute of Technology, No. 21 Rowan University and No. 5 Johns Hopkins University. In this non-conference showdown, Swarthmore emerged with a head-to-head win against Stevens 152-109, while dropping results to Hopkins 194.5-64.5 and to Rowan 181-80.
The Garnet, back in action for the first time since Dec. 2 and since training in Puerto Rico, had some solid results on Saturday.
Freshman Anna Lyn finished second overall in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.97, good enough for eighth all-time at Swarthmore and the second-fastest time in the conference this year. She also finished sixth in the 100 free.
Senior Liz Staton came in second in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:08.54.
In the 1,650 free, sophomore Hannah Kloetzer claimed third place with a time of 18:22.32.
Senior Scout Clark finished toward the top of the pack in three events, earning Swarthmore points with a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:13.01), fifth in the 200 free with a season best 1:59.04 and sixth in the 200 back (2:12.45).
Anna Kottakis had a strong showing in the 200 back, edging out Clark by fractions of a second and taking fifth place with a time of 2:12.25.
Sophia Lee did particularly well in the 100 breaststroke, recording a time of 1:09.78 and fifth place.
The Garnet return to competition on Feb. 2 on the road at Gettysburg College.
