LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior
Collin Bergey (Zionsville, Pa./Southern Lehigh) posted a pair of top-four showings to lead the Gettysburg College men's track and field team in its season debut at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational on Saturday.
Bergey dashed to a second-place showing in the 200 meters with a time of 22.95, finishing 0.25 seconds behind winner Mitch Schlegel from Elizabethtown College. That time also moved Bergey into sixth in program history. The Gettysburg senior added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 52.11.
Sophomore
Joe Amadio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) posted a personal best distance in the triple jump at 42-2 1/4. He finished fourth overall in the event and remains fourth in program history.
Freshman
Max Borchert (Chester, N.J./Morristown Beard) joined Bergey in the two races, finishing seventh in the 400 (52.94) and 13th in the 200 (23.93).
Junior
Willie Nolan (Westport, Conn./Staples) finished in a three-way tie for fourth in the pole vault at 12-11 1/2.
Additional top-10 finishes were turned in by freshman
Ken Barnes (Sea Girt, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) and sophomore
Joey Artemiou (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville). Barnes placed eighth in the long jump (19-8 1/4) while Artemoiu tied for third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.3.
Gettysburg picks up its indoor schedule again at the John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University on Jan. 28.
