SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In its final meet before the Centennial Conference Championships, the Gettysburg College women's track and field team turned in a number of strong individual performances on Saturday at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Invitational.
Junior
Sarah Rinehart (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) placed fourth among 38 competitors in the 1500-meter run with a personal season-best time of 4:50.60 while a trio of Bullets performed well in the 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore
Hailey Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) came in sixth in the field of 21 with a personal record (PR) of 1:05.37 while classmate
Abigail Rec (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) took seventh in 1:05.65, also a PR. In addition, senior
Sarah Congdon (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) came in ninth in 1:06.20.
Senior
Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) and junior
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) each posted a strong double. Meredith placed seventh out of 42 competitors in the long jump (18-1) while taking 11th of 28 athletes in the triple jump with a mark (35-8 1/2) that ranks her in a tie for eighth in school history. DeMichael took eighth out of 48 runners in the 800 meters (2:25.83), and she was also 21st in a field of 37 in the 400-meter dash (1:03.24).
Freshman
Grace Bushway (Charlestown, N.H./Fall Mountain) took fourth out of 15 runners in the 5000 (20:04.10) while senior
Ellery Lyon (Sheldonville, Mass./King Philip) took 16th in a field of 47 in the javelin (110-4).
Gettysburg returns to the track May 4-6 for the Centennial Conference Championships, hosted by Ursinus.
