HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's golf team clinched its first win of the season by shooting 730 (368-362) at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational hosted by the Country Club of Harrisburg.
Gettysburg earned the top spot among four scoring teams by 42 strokes and all four scorers finished among the top 11.
Sophomore
Hannah Fireman (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the way with 171 (87-84) to finish third overall in her season debut. She shaved three strokes off her opening round and posted the third-best score on Sunday. Fireman only trailed Allison Cooper from Penn State Harrisburg (159) and Anelise Browne from Franklin & Marshall College (161) in the standings.
Sophomore
Skylar Frankiewicz (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) placed one spot behind Fireman in fourth place. Frankiewicz carded 86 on Saturday and 90 on Sunday to finish with 176.
Senior
Fontaine McFeaters (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led Gettysburg with a five-stroke improvement between rounds. After carding 95 on the opening day, McFeaters posted a 90 on day two and tied for seventh with a score of 185.
Junior
Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) rounded out the scorers in 11th place. Marini carded 100 in the first round and 98 on Sunday.
Senior
Caroline McDonald (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) competed on Sunday and shot 117 in her first round of competition this fall.
Gettysburg hosts an invitational at Hanover Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
