COLDEN RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.–Senior
John Gagnon of the Swarthmore College men's track & field team set a program record in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday, Feb. 4 with his time of 8:30.96 at the Villanova invite. Gagnon's mark broke the previous record, set by Garrett Ash '05 in 2004, by nearly 10 seconds.
Benjamin Warren also competed at the Villanova Invite hosted in Staten Island and won his section of the 800-meter run in 1:57.24, a new personal best.
The Garnet also sent competitors to the Frank Colden Invitational hosted on the campus of Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. Freshman
Vaughn Parts was the runner-up in the 5k with a time of 15:58.82 while
Andrew Jansen threw a personal-best 13.82m in the shot put en route to a fourth-place finish.
Jared Hunt placed eighth in the event with a 13.51m mark.
Daniel Belkin was the top finisher for the Garnet in all three jump events, as he finished fifth in the triple jump, sixth in the long jump and eighth in the high jump.
Corey Branch placed 14th in the 800-meter run (2:05.39) and
Frank Kenny was 13th in the one-mile race (4:44.50) to round out the afternoon.
Swarthmore next competes at the McElligott Invitational hosted by Haverford College on Saturday. Feb. 11 at 11 a.m.
