JHU Finishes 13th Against DI Competition at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown

Hopkins finished just two points behind Bucknell for 12th

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's cross country team put together an impressive performance against many nationally and regionally ranked Division I competition, as the Blue Jays, the only Division III team in the field, finished 13th overall in the race which featured six nationally ranked teams.

Race Highlights
• The Blue Jays got off the line well and packed up to get in good position for the race, which was eventually won by Amon Kemboi of Campbell who defeated Aidan Tooker of Syracuse by fractions of a second. The No. 10 Orange won the event, placing five runners in the top-15.
Jared Pangallozzi was the top finisher for Hopkins and he, Ollie Hickson and Andrew King worked very well in the in the middle part of the race before Pangallozzi pulled away in the last 2k of the race. PJ Murray and Alex Doran fell off a bit in the middle but rebounded in the final 2k to pick up about 40 spots and keep the Blue Jay top-five in a 35-second gap. Scott Pourshalchi also put together a great final leg of the race, passing many runners to finish as the fifth JHU runner. As a team, the Blue Jays had an average time of 25:40 which the teams best average by a good margin on the course.
• JHU finished just two points behind Bucknell as Hickson finished one second behind Chad Sussman. JHU did finish ahead of DI schools Providence (5th in the Northeast) and Brown (11th Northeast).
