Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Garnet Strike Four Times In Win Over Nittany Lions

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Soccer scored four goals while only allowing one in a non-conference win over Penn St. Abington on Wednesday night.

Swarthmore improved to 7-5-1 while Abington dipped to 9-4.

The Garnet goals came from four different scorers: Ethan Witkowski, Yuheng Wang, Zach Viscusi and Patterson Malcolm.

Witkowski put Swarthmore on the board 59 seconds into the game. A handball in the box by the Nittany Lions set up a penalty kick for Witkowski who finished the low shot with confidence.

However, Swarthmore's early lead was not safe as Abington scored one minute and nine seconds later off a restart.

Swarthmore chalked up eight more shots in the first half and broke through in the second half. The Garnet continued to attack and Abington's defenses crumbled after losing a man in the 61st minute for the rest of the match because of a straight red card.

Wang juked his way through the Nittany Lion back line and ripped a shot from the left side of the box that found the back of the net in the 72nd minute. A minute later, Nick Ambiel, who had just re-entered the contest, found Viscusi with a pass and Viscusi netted his fifth goal of the season. Viscusi and Wang continue to match each other for the team lead in goals scored and it's now the fourth time this season that they have both scored in the same game.

Freshman Patterson Malcolm netted his first collegiate goal in the 90th minute for good measure.

Oliver Steinglass picked up two saves in the win.

The Garnet return to Centennial Conference play on Saturday at home against McDaniel.
