GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team dropped a 7-1 decision to regionally-ranked Haverford College in the season finale Saturday.
Gettysburg (5-11, 4-6 CC) posted its lone victory at first doubles against Haverford (12-3, 8-2 CC), which entered the weekend ranked 11th in the Atlantic South Region. Sophomore
Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) and freshman
Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) took down Julia Gan and Greta Koch 8-4 at the top flight. Boardman and Vinges finished the year with a7-6 record as a doubles team.
Haverford wrapped up the decision with straight-set wins at five of the doubles flights. Gettysburg was in position to claim a victory at No. 5 as junior
Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) jumped out to a 6-4 opening set victory against Clara Farrehi. Class was positioned for match point in the second set leading 5-4, but a microburst of rain and thunder interrupted play and left the contest unfinished.
