Carly Shaffer scored her first career goal in the 76th minute to pull the Muhlenberg women's soccer team to within one, however the Mules ultimately fell, 2-1, to Springfield in the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament.
Shaffer's goal, which came off a feed from freshman
Alexandra Chirinkin, sparked a late push for the Mules (10-7-2) that included the game's final four shots. Two of the final three shots went on target, first by freshman
Noemi Di Cori who's shot to the top of the goal was knocked away then by freshman
Emily DeAngelo who was looking for the back post before the Springfield keeper dove to her right for the save.
The Pride (14-6-3) scored their goals in the 7th and 67th minutes.
Muhlenberg's late push gave it a 15-12 advantage in shots and 7-6 margin in shots on goal. The Mules also held the edge in corner kicks 6-3.
