Baseball drops 12-2 decision to Dickinson on last day of RussMatt

AUBURNDALE, Fla.— Dickinson College jumped out to a 9-0 lead and cruised to a 12-2 win over the MCLA Baseball team today. The game wraped up the Trailblazers eight-game RussMatt Invitational slate in which they went 4-4. With today's win the Red Devils improve to 7-3-1 while MCLA heads back home at 6-4 overall.

Dickinson opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd taking advantage of three walks, an error and a wild pitch to push five runs across the plate while only registering two hits.

Designated hitter Ryan Thompson would drive in a pair runs with his double in the bottom of the 3rd before scoring himself thanks to catcher Chase Weller's base hit to make it 8-0.

Down 9-0 in the top of the 6th a Randy Adams double to centerfield would drive in Michael Wormuth and Clarence Givhans for what would prove to be the Trailblazers only runs of the day.

MCLA would load the bases in the top of the 7th but were not able to score. The Red Devils would score three more in the bottom of the 7th which ended the game at 12-2.

Grayson Walker (W, 2-0) earned the win for Dickinson going six innings allowing two earned runs on four hits striking out nine. MCLA starter Rob Correia (L, 2-1) endured his first loss on the season allowing two earned run (eight overall) on six hits.

MCLA returns to action next Wednesday, March 22nd to take on RPI at 4pm on Robinson Field at Karl Steffen Ballpark in Troy, New York.
