• McCracken got into a bit of a jam in the top of the fourth as an error and a double put two runners in scoring position with one out but he got Colin BeVard swinging and got Matthew Funk to ground out to third to end the inning.
• The Red Dragons finally broke through against McCracken as Dan Schweitzer led off the fifth with a home run to left, but McCracken retired the next three batters to keep the score 2-1.
• Johns Hopkins responded with a three-run fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Matthew Ritchie scored on a Cortland throwing error and DeGiacomo brought home Mike Eberle and Adam Kohl with a double to right-center.
• McCracken retired the Red Dragons in order in the sixth and after giving up a two-out single in the seventh, the senior got Scott Giordano looking to end the inning.
• Cortland made it interesting in the ninth against Josh Hejka as Paul Franzese came into the game as a pinch hitter with a runner on and took the Hejka pitch over left field wall to make it a two-run game. After a strikeout of Matt Funk, Brian Corporan doubled to bring the tying run to the plate, but Hejka got Giordano to ground out to Kohl at second and seal the 5-3 Blue Jay victory.
