• The Short Story: A 10-run seventh inning, highlighted by a Chris Festa grand slam, helped lead the Johns Hopkins baseball team to a 14-1 victory over Arcadia in the Blue Jays first game of the season.

How it Happened
• The Knights got on the scoreboard first as Zak Thomas led off the second with a solo shot to right. Hopkins responded with three runs in the third as an Austin Sacks triple scored Mike Ainsworth and Chris DeGiacomo. Adam Kohl gave Hopkins a two-run lead with a sac fly to score Sacks.
• JHU added another run in the fourth on a DeGiacomo solo home run to right to lead off the inning.
• Betz got into a bases loaded one out jam in the sixth, but Nick Ponente hit a fly ball to Festa in center who made the catch and then gunned down Trevor Mattson at the plate to get the Blue Jays out of the inning.
• A 10-run seventh inning put Hopkins in control. Festa got the scoring started with his grand slam to left and was followed by DeGiacomo who singled home Frank Clara. Sacks then hit a two-run shot to right and Mike Eberle hit the third Blue Jays homer of the inning as his three-run blast concluded the scoring in the inning for Hopkins, as the Blue Jays took a 14-1 lead and went onto win the game by that score.

• Pitching Decision: W – Tyler Showers (1-0) • L – Sean McCracken (0-1)

How it Happened
• The Cardinals took a 4-0 lead in the third thanks to two home runs.  Thomas Pasquale hit a three-run homer and Allen Murphy followed with a solo shot.

• Nathan Davis got the Blue Jays on the scoreboard with his two-run shot in the fifth that scored Sacks and made the score 7-2.
• A four-run seventh for the Cardinals made it an 11-2 ball game but Hopkins got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning on a Matthew Ritchie fielder's choice.
• The Cardinals put together another big inning in the fifth, scoring five runs to make the score 16-3.
• JHU responded yet again with three runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to a Pete Manny double and James Ingram's first collegiate home run which scored Manny and made the score 16-6.
• St. John Fisher responded with another three runs in the ninth to make it 19-6 and seemingly put the game out of reach for Hopkins.
• The Blue Jays would not go down easily, however as they rallied in the ninth to make the game interesting.
