KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's cross country team placed eighth among 11 teams at the Kutztown Division II/Division III Challenge on Saturday.
Seniors
Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md../Pinkerton Academy (N.H.)) and
Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) were the top finishers for Bullets, who were third among five Division III teams. Robinson placed 34th among 128 competitors, completing the 8,000-meter course in 28:22. Miller was not far behind, running the 8K in 28:31, good for 41st. Robinson was sixth among DIII competitors.
Sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) was next to cross the finish line, taking 44th in 28:43. Completing the team scoring were senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, CT./Fairfield Warde), who placed 51st in 28:58, and freshman
William Hopkins (Raleigh, NC./Needham B. Broughton), who was 54th in 29:06.
Finishing as displacers were freshman
Patrick Neighbour (Milford, NJ./Delaware Valley Regional) who was 56th in 29:19, and junior
Aren Heitmann (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), who came in 60th in 29:31. Only 69 seconds separated the top seven finishers for Gettysburg.
The top-three teams all hailed from Division II, with Malone University capturing the team title with 30 points. George McCartney of Malone won the race in 26:28.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule next Saturday, Sept. 22, when it runs at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
