The Muhlenberg softball team battled dreary weather conditions but could not come away with wins against Haverford, falling 7-5 and 8-4.
Â
The Mules (6-10, 0-2 CC) fell behind in both games of its Centennial Conference opener but rallied back in each game. Muhlenberg scored four unanswered runs in the early game and fought back to tie the nightcap with early runs.

Kristy Selby, the reigning
CC player of the week, continued her hot hitting by going 5-for-8 with a double and a RBI. Senior
Haley Fedak slashed two hits in each game, and sophomore
Sydney Carey went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and stole two bases.
Â
Trailing 3-0 in the opening game, Fedak drove in freshman
Ariana Feliziani with an RBI single in the third inning. The Fords (10-2, 2-0 CC) added four runs in the fifth, but Muhlenberg answered with four runs of its own, starting with a Fedak sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth.

Allyson Sweeney and Carey each roped RBI singles in the sixth inning to make it 7-4, and Feliziani drove Sweeney home on a sacrifice fly to bring the Mules within two. Haverford, however, retired the next batter and prevented any runs in the seventh inning to end the game.
Â
The Fords started the second game with two runs in the first frame, but the Mules matched them with two runs of their own. Selby roped a single to left with the bases loaded to plate senior
Hanna Caiola, and senior
Kristina Qualben brought home Fedak with a sacrifice fly, giving Qualben her CC-leading 20th RBI of the season and tying the game at 2-2.
Â
Haverford retook the lead with two more runs in the fourth before Carey
(pictured above) stole home to make it 4-3 after four.
Â
The Fords then scored the next three runs before a Fedak hit a single to left to plate Carey and make the final score.
Â
Fedak pitched a complete game in the night cap, striking out five batters to move into seventh place in Muhlenberg history (209).
