Johns Hopkins Falls at F&M, Shares CC Regular Season Title

Blue Jays Are the Number Two Seed in CC Tournament

The Basics
• Score: #10 Franklin & Marshall-2, #11 Johns Hopkins-0
• Records: JHU (15-2, 9-1 CC) • FMC (15-2, 9-1 CC)
• Location: Lancaster, PA • Tylus Field
• The Short Story: For the second straight year, Johns Hopkins and Franklin & Marshall squared off for the number one seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. This year the Diplomats prevailed, beating the visiting Blue Jay field hockey team, 2-0.

How it Happened
• Franklin & Marshall took an early 1-0 lead when Erin Coverdale took a pass from Nicole Bodo dribbled in towards the right post and slotted home the go-ahead goal just 7:54 into the game. Hopkins had a great chance to level the score midway through the half with three straight penalty corners, but couldn't convert.
• The Diplomats added an insurance goal at 47:39 as they capitalized on a second straight corner. Emily Nagle inserted the corner, sending the ball to Coverdale at the top of the circle. She fired a shot towards the left post and Lily Mynott deflected it in to put F&M up 2-0.
• Just five minutes later, the Blue Jays had three great chances, but a pair of saves from Ilianna Santagelo and a defensive save by Colleen Francis kept the Hopkins off the board.

What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 23-15-1 all-time against Franklin & Marshall and has lost the last two meetings. The loss snaps the Blue Jays' 11-game win streak.
• For the second straight year, Hopkins earns a share of the Centennial Conference regular season title. F&M earns the top seed and will host the conference tournament, by virtue of its head-to-head win over JHU. The Blue Jays will be the number two seed.
