Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Thomas Scores Twice in Men’s Soccer Win at Lebanon Valley

Annville, Pa. –Freshman Oladayo Thomas (Larchmont, N.Y./The Masters) displayed a strong offensive outing as he scored twice for the Gettysburg College men's soccer team as they defeated non-conference foe Lebanon Valley College on the road Wednesday evening, 2-1.

The Bullets are now 19-2 all-time against the Dutchmen.

Gettysburg dominated offensively in the first half as freshman Jack Carroll (Leonia, N.J./Bergen Catholic) dished the ball to Thomas who did a give and go in the middle, beating out the goalkeeper and shooting to the right side of the net with 18:22 on the clock. The Bullets pounded the net again 15 minutes later as junior Precious Ozoh (Abuja, Nigeria/Holderness School (N.H.)) crossed the ball from the right side to Thomas, who one-touch headed the ball into the left side, putting the Bullets ahead 2-0.

Gettysburg finished the first stanza outshooting Lebanon Valley 12-5, with four shots being on goal, and held the 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

Lebanon Valley was the first to take a shot on goal five minutes into the second half, but the shot was saved by junior goalkeeper Thomas Keane (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga College). Shortly after, the Dutchmen would be the ones to strike again, only this time with a goal, cutting the Bullets lead in half.

For the remainder of the match, Gettysburg's defense played outstanding as they surrendered no shots in the final 36 minutes.

Thomas has registered three goals on the season to lead the team.

The Bullets ended the match outshooting the Dutchmen 22-7 and held the 5-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Gettysburg returns to conference play on Sunday as they travel to Baltimore, Md. to face Johns Hopkins, ranked No. 24 by D3soccer.com, at 1:00 p.m.
