DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's golf team strolled out to a 12-stroke lead on the opening day of the Rosemont College Ravens Invitational at the Downingtown Country Club Saturday.
 
Gettysburg carded 296 to top the field of 18 teams. Rosemont was second with 308 with Swarthmore College and Franklin & Marshall College close behind at 310 and 313, respectively.
 
Senior Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) topped the individual leaderboard with a three-under 69. Harcourt posted three birdies on the front nine and closed his round with birdies on two of the last three holes. He was the only golfer to break par and carries a three-stroke lead into the final round.
 
Sophomores Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) tied for fifth with each shooting 75. Rieger birdied the two-longest holes on the course – the par-5, 498-yard eighth hole and the par-5, 531-yard 17th. Greene was one-under on the final nine holes and joined his classmate with a birdie on the 17th.
 
Senior Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) finished day one in a tie for 18th after carding a 77. Sethre-Hofstad was one-under after birdieing the par-5, 497-yard 14th, but the senior stumbled into some trouble over the final four holes and finished five-over on the back nine.
 
Junior Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) was the team's fifth starter and finished with an 84 to tie for 55th. Freshman Tristan Hochman (Westport, Conn./Staples) competed as an individual and carded a 78 to tie for 23rd.
 
Sunday's opening tee times are set for 10 a.m.
