GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's basketball team dropped an 81-56 decision to the reigning conference champions Johns Hopkins University in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday night in Bream Gym.
 
The Bullets (3-6, 2-2 CC) were held to their lowest scoring output of the season.
 
Sophomore guard Chris Jack (Reckange-sur-Mess, Luxembourg/The Hun School of Princeton) paced the Orange and Blue with 10 points and five rebounds off the bench, hitting 3-of-4 from the field and 2-of-3 from the 3-point line, while senior Alec Warren (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added nine points, all of which came from beyond the arc. Junior Andrew Gardiner (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Brentwood School) also grabbed five boards.
 
Conner Delaney led Johns Hopkins (7-2, 4-0 CC) with 17 points while Michael Gardner and Harry O'Neil chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively. Gardner finished with a team-high seven rebounds.
 
The Bullets scored on their first possession 15 seconds into the game when sophomore Avery Close (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) connected on a jumper. Johns Hopkins took the lead on the next possession when Michael Gardner made a 3-pointer for the Blue Jays. Gettysburg stayed within three points at the 15:29 marker off a layup by Gardiner, which was the closest the team came the rest of the game. From 8:31 on the clock until the end of the frame, the Blue Jays reeled off a 22-10 run en route to holding the 41-24 advantage at the half.
 
The Blue Jays continued to pile on to their lead, outscoring the Bullets 9-0 in the first five minutes of the second half to make it 51-24, the largest advantage of the night. Gettysburg could not get into an offensive rhythm, while Johns Hopkins continued to soar offensively in the second half, leading by 16 plus for the remainder of the game.
 
Gettysburg finished 21-of-47 (44.7 percent) from the floor, including 6-of-18 (33.3 percent) from the 3-point line. Johns Hopkins concluded the game by going 31-of-61 (50.8 percent) and hit 13-of-31 (41.9 percent) from beyond the arc. The Blue Jays held the slight 29-28 rebound battle.
 
The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they host Ursinus College at 2:00 p.m. in another Centennial Conference match-up.
