SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College women's swimming team won eight events on Saturday, Oct. 29 en route to a 142.5-61.5 drubbing of McDaniel in the first dual meet of the 2016-17 season.
Sophomore
Scout Clark was a double winner with victories in the 200 individual medley (2:16.00) and the 500 free (5:26.31) as freshman
Clare Cushing won the 200 free (1:58.87) in her collegiate debut and teamed with
Amelia Tomei,
Stephanie Tilneac and
Sophie Moody for a win in the 200 free relay (1:43.62).
Freshman
Giorgia Piantanida picked up the first victory for the Garnet with her first-place finish in the 1000 free (11:27.75) ahead of classmate
Kalli Segel.
Sophomore
Sarah Solomon touched the wall first in the 100 fly (1:01.19) and classmate
Emily Bley rode a strong swim to a win in the 100 back (1:01.97) as Tilneac placed second.
Liz Staton closed out the final individual event, the 100 breast, by finishing first in 1:09.37.
The Garnet return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 with a joint meet against conference opponents Bryn Mawr and Franklin & Marshall at 1 p.m.
