GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Division II Shepherd University on Monday.
 
Shepherd (3-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep in doubles. Gettysburg (0-2) narrowly missed a victory at the third flight as junior Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and senior Erin Sweeney (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) fell to Nicolette Bruley and Olivia Scott 8-6.
 
Sophomore Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) scored her second win at the top position this fall with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Zoie O'Neal. Freshman Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) accounted for the remaining point with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Oliva Scott at No. 5.
 
Gettysburg resumes its schedule in March.
