• The Short Story: Trailing 7-0 in the bottom of the second, the Johns Hopkins baseball team eventually made it a one-run game in the sixth against top-ranked Wooster, however, the Fighting Scots held on for the 13-7 victory on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
• McCracken had struck out five straight Wooster batters, but with two outs the Fighting Scots strung together eight straight hits to score seven runs in the second inning.
• JHU got a run back in the bottom of the second as
Jared deFaria doubled with two outs and came around to score on a
Matthew Ritchie single.
• The Fighting Scots added onto their lead as a two-out double by Garrett Crum made the score 8-1.
• Johns Hopkins began its rally as the Blue Jays put up three runs in the fifth. Ritchie was hit by a pitch and
Pete Manny singled as a pinch hitter with two outs to put two runners on. Three straight singles from
Tim Kutcher,
Mike Eberle and
Bradley Parsons cut the Wooster in half, making it an 8-4 game.
• In the sixth, Hopkins made it a one-run game as
James Ingram's three-run shot over the left field fence with two outs made the score 8-7.
• Wooster added two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth as the Fighting Scots won the game by a 13-7 score.
