GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) set a new personal record (PR) while placing 37th among 276 runners, leading the Gettysburg College men's cross country team at the 30th Annual Gettysburg College Invitational on Saturday.
The Bullets accumulated a team score of 246 and placed seventh in a field of 28 that included Division I, II, III, and unattached teams. Gettysburg placed second out of 14 Division III schools.
Mount Saint Mary's won the team title with 41 points while Saint Francis finished second with 59 points. The top-five was rounded out by Division II Shippensburg in third (78), Pacers/GRC New Balance in fourth (101), and Division III Juniata in fifth (193).
McKeever cruised the muddy 8,000-meter course in 27:20, which is now his new PR time. Finishing close behind was senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) who claimed 41st while senior
Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]) took 46th with times of 27:25 and 27:30, respectively.
Senior
Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) was Gettysburg's next finisher, taking 51st in 27:35, while junior
Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) completed the team scoring, placing 91st in 28:21.
Finishing as displacers were freshman
William Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton), who came in 94th in 28:27, and junior
Aren Heitmann (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), who was 109th in 28:42.
Nick Fransham of Mount St. Mary's won the individual title in 25:54.
A partial squad will compete at the Lebanon Valley Invitational this Friday before the rest of the team returns to the course for the Centennial Conference Championship.
