The Basics

• The Short Story: Trailing by as many as 14 points midway through the second quarter, the Johns Hopkins women's basketball rallied and came back to defeat Ursinus, 71-59 on the road on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
• The Bears got out to a quick start as Aliyah Stephens converted on the three-point play at the four-minute mark to give Ursinus a 16-9 lead.
Lyndsey Hoyd hit from deep to cut the Bears' lead to 16-12, however, Ursinus scored the next four points to take a 20-12 lead at 2:23. Stephens hit four free throws late in the quarter to give the Bears a 25-14 advantage but a three-point play from
Diarra Oden with 17 seconds remaining made the score 25-17 after 10 minutes of play.
• Trailing 34-21 with 5:25 remaining in the half, JHU went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to six with 2:50 remaining. Maya Kornfeld stopped the Blue Jay run with a layup to make the score 36-28, however, Hopkins ended the quarter on a 5-0 run to make it a three-point game at 36-33 heading into the half.

Lexie Scholtz brought the Blue Jays to within one point with a jumper to open the third quarter. The Bears responded with a 4-0 run, but a three from
Lillian Scott once again brought JHU to within one at 7:44. Another 4-0 Ursinus run gave the Bears a five-point lead but a three from
Madison McGrath helped spark a 7-2 run to tie the game at 45. The Bears closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 51-45 lead into the final 10 minutes of play.
• A 6-0 run by Hopkins to open the fourth tied the game for the second time but a Maya Kornfeld jumper at 7:27 put the Bears back on top, 53-51. Scholtz then hit a jumper to tie the game at 53 and layup from Oden at 6:35 gave the Blue Jays their first lead of the day at 55-53. The Blue Jays went onto outscore the Bears 16-6 in the game's final minutes to finish the comeback win by a score of 71-59.
What it Means
• The Blue Jays improve to 38-9 all-time against the Bears and Hopkins has won the last four meetings.
• The 8-1 start to Centennial Conference play since JHU began 10-0 in the 2013-14 season.

• Scott led Hopkins with 23 points while McGrath added 15 and Scholtz finished with 12.
