KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's cross country team placed seventh among 10 teams and second out of four NCAA Division III schools at the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge on Saturday.
Gettysburg posted a team score of 178 and placed behind only Salisbury (138) in Division III competition. Stonehill College captured the team title with 24 points while Rachel Wentworth of Malone University won the race in 23:31.
For the second-straight meet, senior
Sarah Rinehart (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) led the Bullets, placing 13th in a field of 104. Running her first 6,000-meter course of the season, she was timed at 24:17. It was the second top-15 finish in as many races this fall for Rinehart, who was also the top Division III finisher.
Trailing Rinehart for Gettysburg was senior
Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy), who placed 42nd in 25:59, while senior
Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) was 47th in 26:05. Completing the team score were freshman
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, VA./Virginia Episcopal School), who took 51st in 26:16, and freshman
Amy Milner (Ithaca, NY./Ithaca), who finished 57th in 26:33.
Finishing as displacers were freshman
Ashlyn Booher (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), who came in 65th in 27:04, and senior
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), who took 67th in 27:08.
Gettysburg continues its season next Saturday at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
