GETTYSBURG, Pa.- Senior
Sarah Rinehart (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) paced the Gettysburg College women's cross country team to a 11th place finish among 30 teams at the 30th Annual Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.
As a team, Gettysburg earned a score of 336 and finished third out of 16 Division III schools. Division II Cedarville claimed the team title with a score of 42 and was followed by Division I Saint Francis (57), Division II Shippensburg (84), Division I Bucknell (98), and Division I Mount St. Mary's (123).
Rinehart crossed the muddy 6,000-meter course in 23:44, beating out 318 runners for 16th-place. Senior
Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) was second on the team in scoring as she claimed 86th with a time of 25:27.
Crossing the finish line next for the Orange and Blue was freshman
Amy Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), who came in 104th in 25:51. Rounding out the team score were senior
Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North), who placed right behind Milner in 105th in 25:52, and freshman
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School), who was 115th in 26:08.
Finishing as displacers were sophomore
Michelle O'Malley (Locust, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and senior
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) who took 117th
(26:08) and 135th (26:26), respectively.
Hannah Dorian of Saint Francis won the individual title in 22:26.
A partial squad will compete at the Lebanon Valley Invitational this Friday before the rest of the team returns to the course for the Centennial Conference Championship.
