Gettysburg Rolls to Wins over King’s, Penn College

Bullets win 16 matches in two dual victories

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Gettysburg College wrestling team won 16 of 19 matches on the way to a pair of dominating non-conference victories over King's (Pa.) College and Penn College Saturday afternoon.
 
Gettysburg (5-2) rolled to a 33-6 win over King's to open the day. After a pair of forfeits in favor of the Bullets, the Monarchs earned a close decision victory at 141. The Orange and Blue won the next four with two coming by major decision and two by technical fall. Sophomore Colin Devlin (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) and senior Jake Bracken (Chatsworth, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) put up major decisions at 149 (15-4) and 157 (12-3), respectively.
 
Junior Colin Kowalski (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) blanked Sean Floto 15-0 in the first period for a tech fall at 165 and sophomore Austin Roskos (Lawrenceville, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) followed with a 19-4 win at 184.
 
Junior heavyweight Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown) scored a takedown early in overtime to take down Ralph Bernardo 3-1. Triandafilou improved to 20-4 this season.
 
The Bullets won the first nine matches before opting to forfeit at heavyweight in a 41-6 decision over Penn College. Senior Lenny Ogozalek (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) picked up his second forfeit of the day at 125 to improve his season mark to 22-8.
 
Senior Louie Carusillo (Pequannock, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and freshmen Sean Thompson (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Marc Larson (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) logged decision victories at 133 (6-2), 141 (4-1), and 157 (4-2), respectively, while the Bullets earned forfeit wins at 149 and 165.
 
Kowalski bumped up to 174 and pitched another shutout, ending the match 31 seconds into the second period with another technical fall (16-0) and improving to 22-4 on the year. Roskos followed with a 7-3 win at 184 and freshman Mike Iodice (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) closed the day with dominating effort at 197 as he jumped in front 10-4 before ending with a third-period pin.
 
Gettysburg returns home next week for three matches. The Bullets host Elizabethtown College in a non-conference contest on Friday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. The following day, Gettysburg begins its Centennial Conference dual schedule against United States Merchant Marine Academy and Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at noon.
