Men's Lacrosse Wins Second Straight; Down Misericordia 10-5

Box Score
DALLAS, Pa. – Two four-point performances from seniors Brendan Conway and Jonathan Molloy led Swarthmore College men's lacrosse to a 10-5 victory over Misericordia (4-4) on Saturday afternoon for second straight victory.

Conway tallied two goals and two assists, while Molloy picked up a hat trick for the Garnet  and one assist – collecting his 100th career point on his third goal of the game. Junior Christ Thomson recorded two assists along with one goal.  Senior keeper Jonathan Cohen made nine stops for his fourth victory of the season.

The Conway and Thomson duo fueled Swarthmore's offense in the first period as all five points were recorded by them – Conway scoring twice and Thomson assisting on both and tallying an unassisted goal.

Swarthmore would take a 4-0 lead before the Cougars got on the board at the 7:56 mark of the second period. Cohen recorded four of his saves in the opening 15 minutes.

Swarthmore (4-5) tallied six times in the first half and controlled the offense with a 23-12 shot advantage to take a 6-1 lead into the break.

Molloy scored the final goal of the half and first two in the third period to pick up his second hat trick of the season. Now behind 8-1, the Cougars began a comeback and even outscored the Garnet 4-2 in the final 23 minutes of action, but the early cushion led to the non-conference victory for Swarthmore.

Sophomore Mike Selverian won 6-of-9 faceoffs taken and recorded four ground balls. Senior defender Geli Carabases caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls for the Garnet.

Misericordia used five different goal scorers in the effort and goalkeepers Patrick Johnson and Josh Shanker split time in net, recording 16 saves.  Andrew Reynolds collected a game-high seven ground balls and took 8-of-18 faceoffs.

Swarthmore returns to action on Saturday, April 5 at Gettysburg College. First faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
