Lexie Scholtz Recorded Her Third Double-Double of the Season

The Basics

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team, playing its third game in five days, defeated Washington College, 63-45 on the road on Saturday afternoon as Lexie Scholtz recorded a double-double in the win.

How it Happened
• The Shorewomen took a 4-2 lead on an Emily Thiemann jumper, but Hopkins responded with a 11-2 lead to pull ahead 13-6 with 1:42 remaining in the quarter. Back-to-back jumpers for WC brought the home team to within three at 9:48 but threes from Diarra Oden and Lexie Scholtz gave the Blue Jays a 13-6 advantage with 1:42 remaining and JHU took a 13-8 lead into the second quarter of play.
• Taylor Samuels opened the second with a jumper to make the score 13-10, but a 12-2 over the next 3:56 Blue Jays a 25-12 lead. The Shoewomen responded with a 8-4 run to get to within nine at 29-20, but Madison McGrath hit a layup with 11 seconds left to put the Blue Jays up 11. With one second remaining, Caitlyn Clark made a layup to send the teams into the half with the score 31-22 Hopkins.
• A jumper from Bridget McLaughlin cut the JHU lead to seven, to open the third, but Scott hit another three and Rory Cole followed with a layup to put Hopkins on top 36-24 with 6:26 remaining. The Shoewomen went on a 5-0 run to end the quarter and send the teams into the final 10 minutes with Johns Hopkins holding a 43-22 lead.
• Scholtz scored the fourth quarters first four points to put the Blue Jays up 47-33. Scholtz gave the Blue Jays their largest lead of the game as her three-point play put JHU up 23 at 3:59 and JHU would claim the 63-45 win.

• JHU holds a 37-3 all-time record against the Shorewomen as the Blue Jays have won the last 11 meetings.

Inside the Box Score
• Scholtz notched her third double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Scott added 14 points in the victory.
• Cole led Hopkins with 11 rebounds as JHU out-rebounded Washington College, 51-30.
