SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Swimming rolled to a 194-61 win at home on Saturday afternoon against the Washington College Shoremen and improved to 4-0 in Centennial Conference meets this season.
The Garnet had the top finisher in 12 of 14 events on Saturday. The Garnet held the top two spots in both relays, the 200-yard medley and the 400 free. The 400 free squad of Alec Menzer, Ethan Bergmann, Alec Lawless and Jeffrey Tse closed out Saturday's proceedings with a new Ware Pool record of 3:09.15.
Freshman Tom Ward took first place in the 1,000 free, reaching the wall for the last time in just under 10 minutes (9:59.44).
Bergman led the Garnet in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.25, and the Garnet took first, second and third in the event with Jeff Mun and Alec Lawless coming in not too far behind.
Horace Shew finished first in the 100 backstroke in 53.82, and in the 100 breaststroke, Chris Smith clocked in at 39 hundredths of a second past one minute.
Freshman Jeremy Rockaway set a new pool record in the 200 fly, breaking a record held since 2006 with a mark of 1:54.93.
The Garnet went one-two-three in the 50 free led by Tse's 21.14 second dash. Charles Yang and Riley McLaughlin took up second and third.
Lawless recorded a win in the 100 free (48.52).
Led by Menzer's 4:45.55 in the 500 free, Swarthmore claimed the top four spots in that event.
Tse won the 100 fly in 50.82 and Smith and Bergmann followed in second and third.
Rockaway won the 200 IM in 2:00.53 to cap off Swarthmore's individual wins.
The Garnet will take a break from Centennial action and will compete again in a three-day meet at TCNJ beginning Nov. 30.
