SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming cruised to victory in the opening meet of the 2018 campaign on Saturday afternoon.
The match was officially scored at 102-62 but the difference between the teams was much greater than that score implied as most of the later heats were scored as exhibitions.
Swarthmore went uncontested in the first two events, the 200 medley and the 400 IM, and then got a strong performance from freshman
Anna Lynn in the 200 free—first place with a time of 1:58.75. Lynn would later pick up her second win of the day in the 100 free (54.03).
Senior
Sophie Moody led Swarthmore in the 50 free (26.24). Classmate
Liz Staton won the 100 breast in 1:08.38.
Freshman
Liz Gallagher was just a shade over a minute in the 100 fly (1:00.88) as she swam to first place.
Scout Clark, a senior, won the 100 back in 1:00.90.
First-year swimmer
Dani Gomez led the pack in the 500 free with a time of 5:38.01.
The 100 IM belonged to
Sophia Lee who won the race in 1:02.35, narrowly edging out Staton who swam in 1:02.37.
Swarthmore's 200 free relay team closed out the meet with a win and a time of 1:46.34.
The Garnet are back in Ware Pool on Friday to host both Bryn Mawr College and Franklin & Marshall College.
