The Muhlenberg women's soccer team put forth a tremendous effort against nationally ranked Johns Hopkins in a 1-0 loss.
The Mules (4-5-1, 2-3) did not allow a goal from the run of play to the Blue Jays (11-1, 5-0), who came in ranked fifth and sixth in the two Division III polls and were ninth in the country in goals scored with 41 in their first 11 games. The lone goal of this game came on a second-half penalty kick.
Meanwhile, the offense took 11 shots and came close to tying the game in the minute after Hopkins scored. A header by junior
Casarah Morales off a corner kick hit the post, and follow-up shots were blocked and then saved.
Junior
Libby Juliano made seven saves in goal.
Muhlenberg has played five of the 10 teams in this week's Mid-Atlantic Region rankings - Johns Hopkins (second), Arcadia (fifth), Susquehanna (seventh), Dickinson (ninth) and Haverford (10th) - taking two of those teams to overtime and falling 1-0 to two of the other three.
