The 2019 regular season ended how it began for the Muhlenberg women's soccer team, with a shutout win. The Mules topped Washington College 3-0 on Senior Day fueled by early goals by sophomore
Cece Peden and freshman
Alexandra Chirinkin.
It took just six and a half minutes for Muhlenberg (8-6-2, 3-5-2) to find the back of the net. Junior
Mia Mulin found Peden in the box after the pair combined for a tremendous defensive effort to dispossess a Shorewoman in the midfield. Mulin gained possession and ran down the right side before crossing to Peden to just outside the six-yard box.
The game's next shot came just over seven minutes later when Chirinkin took a free kick from 30 yards out to the left of the corner of the box. The kick didn't get any higher than the crossbar before finding the backside of the net. The goal was the first of Chirinkin's career. She eyed her second with a shot that hit off the top of the crossbar in the 24th minute.
Junior
Isabel Schwartz chipped her third goal of the year over the goalie in the 69th minute after taking a touch pass from freshman
Noemi Di Cori at the top of the box.
Muhlenberg was efficient in its shooting effort, putting eight of its nine shots on target. Senior
Libby Juliano had an answer for all three Shorewomen (6-8-3, 2-6-2) chances.
The regular season came to a close with the Mules unbeaten (6-0-2) on Varsity Field. Seven of Muhlenberg's eight wins on the year came via shutout.
All six seniors – Juliano,
Sarah Hunter,
Madison Ingling,
Casarah Morales,
Alyssa Rose and
Karolyn Kawa – started for the Mules in their final regular-season home game.
