EWING, N.J.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming registered 36 personal records over the weekend at the TCNJ Invite. The Garnet had 18 swimmers competing, fewer than most of the teams competing at the invite, and still came in second place with 832.5 points.
In addition to the 36 personal bests set at the meet, the Garnet recorded 129 season-best times and had 15 times that will appear on the program's all-time top-10 lists.
Swarthmore's 800 free relay squad of
Anna Lyn,
Scout Clark,
Hannah Kloetzer and
Sophia Lee won the heat with a time of 7:53.89. Lyn,
Liz Staton,
Liz Gallagher and
Anna Kottakis won the 400 medley relay (3:58.89). The Garnet took second in the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 free relays.
Staton, a senior, won a pair of events, the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with season-best times of 1:06.85 and 2:27.38.
Kloetzer posted season bests in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1,650 freestyle and had silver in the 200 (5:09.82) and the 500 (5:09.82) and won gold in the 1,650 (17:54.92).
Clark earned first place in the 400 IM with a personal best time of 4:38.12, third-best time in school history. She also earned bronze in the 200 IM and 200 back.
Gallagher had a personal best time in the 100 fly, taking silver with a time of 58.38, and also got silver in the 200 fly (2:12.96).
Sophia Lee's personal best time in the 100 breast is the seventh best at Swarthmore and her 2:27.75 in the 200 breast won silver at the meet.
The Garnet return to action on Jan. 19, 2019 for a meet in New Providence, N.J.
