Defense Dominates as Colorado College Wrecks Fords

Box Score The Colorado College men's lacrosse team continued to score at a blistering pace on Sunday against Haverford College, but the Tigers proved they are more than capable of dominating a game at the defensive end, too.

The CC defense set a season best with only three goals allowed as the Tigers cruised to a 20-3 victory over the Fords at Washburn Field.

Senior defender Cooper Lee tied his career high with four caused turnovers to pace the defensive effort, while junior defender Billy Hutchison grabbed a career-best five ground balls.

After Haverford took a 2-1 lead on Sean Mowatt-Larssen's second goal 3:02 into the game, Colorado College did not allow a goal until Drew Hoffman scored with 9:55 remaining in the game, a span of more than 47 minutes.

During that time, the Tigers reeled off 16 consecutive goals while building a 15-goal lead when Jacob Smith struck for his second of the game 41 seconds into the fourth quarter.

It marked the third time this season that CC scored at least 11 consecutive goals in a game. The Tigers scored 11 in a row during the second half of the season-opening victories at Sewanee and Berry College.

Brooks Brown and Elliot Nelson each produced three goals and an assist during the barrage.

Makay Hansen also struck for three goals and became the first Colorado College freshman to score 20 or more goals in a season since Tyler Borko finished with 26 in 2016. Borko scored his 20th in the 11th game of the season, while Hansen accomplished the feat in only five games.

Coby Petau, Max Rieser and Conrad Song scored two goals apiece for the Tigers.

Song also dished out a pair of assists to increase his team-leading total to 15.

Winston Chodnicki turned in another impressive performance at the dot, winning 15 of 21 faceoffs.

Andrew Harwood made seven saves before giving way to Eli Turovsky with 7:22 remaining in the game. Torovsky finished with two saves.

Harwood lowered his season goals-against average to 4.14.
