BALTIMORE—No. 25 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis contested with the No. 14 Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays on Sunday for the 2019 Centennial Conference title. Swarthmore fell 5-0 to Hopkins to finish as the Centennial runner-up.
Swarthmore fell 8-0 in top doubles. In second doubles, Vivien Fernandez-Ravelo and Emma Kassan played a tight match and fell by an 8-6 count.
Freshmen Sophie Brown and Sonia Varma battled in third doubles before getting knocked down 8-4.
Varma split her second singles sets 6-4, 5-7 but her match went unfinished. The top singles and third singles went in Hopkins' favor to clinch the match. Kassan dropped top singles 6-4, 6-4, and Fernandez-Ravelo fell 6-2, 7-5 in third singles.
Swarthmore closed out the season with a 14-5 record, having only lost to nationally-ranked teams this season.
