ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.  – The Gettysburg College women's golf team opened the season by carding a 379 and finishing fourth at the McDaniel College Invitational held at The Bridges Golf Club on Sunday.
 
Playing without its top four returning scorers from last season, Gettysburg finished fourth out of seven scoring teams. Stevenson University won the event with 346.
 
Senior Fontaine McFeaters (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) paced the team with an 89 to place in a tie for 11th. Junior Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) carded a 94 to tie for 18th, while junior Virginia Martin (Pearland, Texas/Dawson) tied her personal best with a 96 to finish 20th.
 
Sophomore Erin Schroeder (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) shot an even 100 to take 23rd and freshman Lindsay Waller (Perry, Mich./Perry) carded 123 in her collegiate debut.
 
Gettysburg continues its fall slate at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational at the Country Club of Harrisburg on Sept. 16-17.
