Antonili Scores 23 in Setback

Dickinson tops Gettysburg 80-64

GETTYSBURG, Pa. Junior Nick Antolini (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) scored 17 of his team-high 23 points in the second half, but Dickinson College blew open a close game in the second half on the way to an 80-64 victory over Gettysburg College in Centennial Conference action inside Bream Gym Thursday night.
 
Dickinson (9-9, 7-4 CC) scored 21 points on a season-high 24 turnovers by Gettysburg (4-14, 3-8 CC) and broke a 41-all tie with a 25-5 run in the second half. The Red Devils also scorched the nets in the second half, knocking down 17-of-31 (54.8 percent) attempts from the field.
 
Antonili increased his offensive output for the fourth consecutive game and netted his fourth 20-point effort of the season. He finished 10-of-22 from the floor, including a pair of high-flying dunks late in the second half. Senior Alec Warren (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) tallied 10 points, while sophomore Avery Close (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) posted seven points and a dozen boards.
 
Elijah Wright led Dickinson with 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor. Mike Hinckley posted 15 of his 18 points in the final period, while Bryce Allen picked up a dozen tallies.
 
Gettysburg held the lead for the majority of the first half, including 18-13 on a lay-up by sophomore Evan Czulada (York, Pa./Central York) with 11:26 left in the first half.
 
Fueled by Wright, the Red Devils went on an 18-5 run over the next seven minutes. Wright accounted for seven points and a lay-up by Allen put the count at 31-23. The Bullets scored the final four points of the half to cut the margin to 31-27 at halftime.
 
Four early points by Wright gave Dickinson a 35-29 edge early in the second period, but Antolini spear-headed a run by Gettysburg with seven of the team's next 12 points. Back-to-back layups by the junior guard knotted the game at 41-41 with 13:40 remaining.
 
Wright handed the lead right back to Dickinson seconds later and the Red Devils were off and running, knocking down nine of their next 10 shots. Hinckley canned four free throws to cap the surge and give the visitors a 69-46 lead with 5:25 to play.
 
Gettysburg finished 23-of-57 (40.4 percent) from the floor, while Dickinson canned 30-of-65 (46.2 percent) of their attempts. The Bullets out-rebounded the Red Devils 42-34.
 
Gettysburg hosts Haverford (7-10, 3-7 CC) Saturday at 1 p.m.
