GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Sean Thompson (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and junior Colin Kowalski (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) each earned a pin, but the Gettysburg College wrestling team came up on the short end of a 29-19 decision to Elizabethtown in a non-conference tilt Friday evening in Bream Gym.
 
Senior Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) added a major decision for the Bullets (5-3) while sophomore Austin Roskos (Lawrenceville, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) contributed a victory by decision.
 
The Blue Jays (5-4) also registered two falls in addition to a pair of major decisions and a forfeit.
 
The night opened with a tight battle between Gettysburg senior Lenny Ogozalek (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) and Elilzabethtown's Phillip Torresani. Ogozalek took a 1-0 lead with a second-period escape, but Torresani answered with an escape of his own in the third period and earned a 2-1 victory thanks to a pivotal riding point.
 
Elizabethtown added a pin at 133 to assume a 9-0 lead before Thompson pulled the Bullets back into it. He collected the fourth fall of his career, which came with 42 seconds left in the first period and pushed his record to 21-7.
 
The Blue Jays opened up some breathing room following a pin and a major decision. However, Kowalski nailed down his seventh pin of the season midway through the opening period to make it a 19-12 match while improving to 23-4 on the year.
 
Roskos added his decision at 174 to pull the Bullets within three. He led just 2-0 heading into the third period but pulled away with a takedown and four near-fall points en route to an 8-4 victory.
 
Elizabethtown was then awarded its forfeit at 184 before clinching the match with Rocco Hladney's 17-5 major decision.
 
Triandafilou ended the night with his 12-4 major decision at heavyweight, which pushed his record to 21-4. He led 6-3 heading into the final period, but settled any doubt with a pair of takedowns.
 
Gettysburg returns home on Saturday, when it takes on Merchant Marine and 21st-ranked Stevens in a pair of Centennial Conference matches starting at noon.
